AP Art History created ritual costumes for different imaginary tribes. They had to depict ideal physical characteristics, foods, industry and climate of that assigned “tribe.” The purpose of the assignment was for them to understand that all art is done with intent. Tribal communities don’t take rituals lightly; therefore, all costuming and pageantry is aligned with strong beliefs within their culture. Thank you, Ms. Avery, for bringing art to life and giving students the ability to look deeper in their analysis.

Shout out to our Warrior alumni who met up with our students during their trip to West Texas A&M yesterday to share advice and set the example. We are so proud of you, Paris and Tatum! Go Buffs! #onceawarrioralwaysawarrior

College Bound Road Trip! Yesterday, our 8th graders visited West Texas A&M. They had a guided tour of the school and attended a student panel to learn more about college life. Some of their key takeaways from this visit included the importance of applying for scholarships, the value of AP classes, and the best ways to find friends on a college campus. When they returned, they worked with Mrs. Couch, our College Success Advisor, to discuss how to choose a college and what they can do now to prepare for the admissions process. It was a fun day. We are grateful to the university for hosting us, to our trip chaperones and bus drivers for a safe trip, and to our former students who are now Buffs who stopped by to share advice with our students.

If a family member or student signs up for PTSA membership before 9/23, the student gets to have a jeans day and a special surprise on Wednesday, 9/25! You can register online at https://my.cheddarup.com/c/24-25-pta-memberships/ or leave $12.00 for parents or $6.00 for students in the office with your name and email address for PTSA.

Hello, Warrior families!
Please remind your student to be mindful during after school pick-up; we have too many students distracted or behaving unsafely. Students need to be picked up in the South Lot and should be outside and actively watching for their ride. Traffic is delayed when students are distracted, and students running across Ivory is unsafe.

Hello, Warriors!
As we near the end of the 6th week and the UIL eligibility window, we are reminding families about the need to attend before- or after-school tutorials for missing work or grades below 70. A student MUST attend tutorials for re-teach and re-take opportunities. Please reach out to your student's teachers for their tutorial schedules.

Talkington HS varsity cheer was invited by UCA (Universal Cheer Association) to participate in the Rangers Spirit Night in Arlington. After an afternoon clinic with other teams, Talkington performed both in a group dance and as an individual squad at the Rangers game at Texas Live! We then enjoyed a wonderful Rangers win over the Anaheim Angels. Wonderful weekend full of cheer, friends, games, and smores!

History came alive today as Mr. Mason's AP World History students put Genghis Khan on trial. 🏛️💥 With compelling arguments and deep dives into historical sources, they explored the legacy of one of the world's most notorious conquerors. What will the jury decide? 🤔 #APWH #GenghisKhanTrial

We love that our Warrior families volunteered to deliver these wonderful meals donated by Fuzzy's Taco Shop and the snack bags our families assembled to our first responders all over town.
First Responder Appreciation project on September 11--always such a heartwarming event to show our love to our heroes. Thanks to all who participated and a big thank you to all first responders!

BIG thank you to the Escobedo family, owners of Fuzzy's Taco Shop, for their incredibly generous donation of ALL OF THE MEALS delivered to all Lubbock first responders at fire stations, EMS, and police stations for First Responders Appreciation on September 11.
