We hope everyone enjoyed their break! Come back to campus Warrior Aware with our January 8-11 Talkington Smore: https://secure.smore.com/n/8pnma-talkington-warrior-weekly

Warriors are invited to stay cozy and warm this Wednesday, January 8, by wearing sweatpants and sweaters or sweatshirts (no hoodies) instead of the traditional uniform. (They do not have to be Talkington sweaters, but they must be school appropriate.)
We look forward to seeing you all back on Wednesday.
High school WILL have late arrival as usual on Wednesday.
-Dr. Longoria

Congratulations to the amazing Makayla Mack, Talkington class of 2025! She has been accepted to 8 colleges and been offered several scholarships so far--more money to come for sure! She is an incredible product of LISD schools, attending Alderson Elementary before coming to Talkington. She says that she stayed at Talkington because of the opportunities to better herself and her education. She certainly has achieved her goals and more. We are beyond proud of you, Makayla!
Makayla plans to major in agriculture and early childhood education. She will continue to make us proud in either, or both, of these fields. Way to go!

Hello families,
Our amazing Academic Enrichment Day is January 10, and our Student Council needs your help to support our students' passion projects. We have 35 student teachers who will be sharing their enthusiasm for art, academics, and health awareness with their classmates, and some of those projects require supplies. We would love if you could help us clear the Amazon Wishlist: tinyurl.com/AEDayJan10
In addition, we will have extended lunch times for our teachers, and we need your help to monitor the students while our amazing staff gets a break. You can sign up for that here: tinyurl.AEVolunteerJan10
If you have any questions about AE Day or want to volunteer for more than just the lunch rotation, please contact our Student Council sponsor at brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org.
Thank you, and have a happy holiday!

Way to go, Mychael Dawodu! This amazing senior has already been accepted to 8 colleges in 4 different states, with more great news on the way, no doubt. And what a great college list, including several HBCUs, a women's college, faith-based institutions, public and private schools--loving the mix of opportunities. Excellent choices!
Mychael will be pursuing a career in the medical field, and we are so grateful that she will be looking out for us in the future! Please help us congratulate this outstanding Warrior.

We are so proud of senior Jaycie Baxter, who found out this morning that her #1 choice, the University of Notre Dame, accepted her! She already has so many amazing college options, and there are more answers to come. Way to reach for the stars, Jaycie! (Literally--she wants to be an aeronautical engineer!)

We are so excited to announce that Talkington has been approved to become a UIL athletics school! This opportunity opens so many doors for our student athletes, cheerleaders, and fans. At Thursday's LISD School Board meeting, the board voted for this measure, and we are thrilled about the possibilities for the future of athletics. Thank you to all of our families who responded to the survey before the meeting. Your input is invaluable. We know this has been a tough month for our athletes and that no one solution worked for everyone, but we hope this path, which reflected the majority of community votes, will make Talkington an even better place.
