It is time for seniors and their families to prepare for the Free Application for Federal Student (FAFSA). Although the 2026-2027 FAFSA won't officially open until October 1, applicants and their parent need an FSA ID before the app opens. Create yours here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
(Be sure to VERIFY your phone number and email address. It is very difficult to get in later without doing that.)
Here's a step by step video explaining how to create the FSA ID: https://youtu.be/iTb7hMVtzco?feature=shared
FAFSA is dependent on your taxes from 2024 (filed spring 2025). Students who filed and their parents may need access to their tax documents and their current asset information to complete the online form in October
More details on how to apply for FAFSA (a graduation requirement in Texas, so so eligible seniors must file) and CSS Profile (for those who need it) will come to seniors in the next few weeks. If you need help completing it, reach out to brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org.

All students in grades 6-11 will wear their regular uniforms (Tuesday or Wednesday dress, either is fine). You can place your order on mylifetouch.com using your Picture Day ID: EVTNHZX22. Order before midnight on Picture Day to get FREE shipping! Students can also bring the order form and payment with them to picture day tomorrow. They will turn in the money to the photographers.
Seniors will take cap and gown photos. An order link will be sent later with a proof. They need to wear black, gray, or white tops that will not clash with the robe for the photo. They will wear their regular uniform after they take their photos.

We cannot wait to host 35+ college representatives at the Talkington TACRAO College Fair on Monday, September 15 from 3:30-4:30. Parents/family members who plan to attend, please pre-register for your visitors' badges here: https://www.schoolsafeid.com/event/7230
The fair will take place in our fine arts wing, so you will enter door 8 for the event.
After the fair, all students and families can join us in the cafeteria for college planning with our College Success Advisor, Mrs. Couch, from 4:45-6:00 pm. Students are encouraged to bring their Chromebooks to the College Bound Family Meeting, if possible.
If you have any questions about this event, email Brandi.Couch@lubbockisd.org.

Mariah and Makayla are off to a strong start this fall, and we can't wait to hear more about how they are leading and learning at PVAMU. The transition from Talkington to this small college campus has worked well, and they are doing great.
These two both left a legacy of excellence here at Talkington, and we know they will keep that going throughout college and beyond.
Way to go, Warriors!

All Talkington Warriors are eligible to compete in the challenge! Teams of 3-4 students could have the chance to represent Talkington at the YWPN STEM Challenge in Dallas! There will be a short student interest meeting this week in Mrs. Doyal's room (room 117) on Thursday after school from 4:10-4:25 and Friday before school from 7:45-8:00 (they will have the same information, so come to whichever works best for your schedule). For more information, see Mrs. Doyal or Mrs. Sanders.
Last year, Talkington swept both the middle school and high school categories. Let's continue that greatness! We loved seeing the students opening their amazing prizes!

It should not surprise you to hear that class of 2025 graduate Amarachi Uche-Eboh is already getting involved in leadership on her college campus within her first week. She was accepted into Princeton's Student Government, specifically the Sustainability Committee. She was also spotted on the Princeton social media page in their opening exercises (photo above).
We know she will continue the incredible success she had as a Warrior in her new home in New Jersey. With Ivy League resources at her disposal, she will have even more ability to research solutions that change the world.
Amarachi, you amaze us all. Keep that Warrior spirit going! We can't wait to see what you do next.
